Bouncy Ball Who Couldn’t Bounce
A short story for kids.
Listen on Spotify
This started with making up bedtime stories for my daughter. She liked this one, so I put it on “paper” and added a few rhymes. A friend of mine added a backing track and remixed the original with nice beat. The story is written as a reaction to what is happening in my home country in relation to human rights. Hope you or your kids like it.
There was once,
A Bounce Ball,
Who couldn’t bounce.
And in the world
Which was all grey
She thought she
Couldn’t play.
Because on the news
Grey people spoke
That there is only
One righteous folk.
She sat at home
Feeling all alone
Watching the rain
Playing saddest tone.
Until one day
Rolling on the floor,
She heard
Loud knocking on her door.
She rushed to open it
Very keen.
And outside she saw,
A pink Trampoline.
Can I hide here?
The Trampoline asked.
She seemed to have run away
From somewhere, fast.
Of course you can,
You seem very nice.
Would you like some tea,
Or a bowl of rice?
The grey people marched
Out on the streets,
And they told me,
They don’t like,
That I’m pink.
Ah don’t worry
the Bouncy Ball said
You can stay here,
We can be friends.
And while outside
The rain was just gone
The sun rose again
With colourful tones.
The grey was no more
It came to an end
This always happens when
The colours blend.
When you meet someone
Whoever it be
You understand,
there is more people
Like me.
And with each moment
That was like a dance.
With pink Trampoline.
